online training
Only on very rare occasions do martial artists get the chance to be part of something truly amazing and an event that could shape the future of martial arts. For me, this opportunity came during the weekend of September 18-19, 2010. I was invited by Grandmaster Werner Leuschner to film my ChunJiDo system so that we could put it on the I Do Martial Arts online martial arts training website (www.idomartialarts.com).
This website is the largest and most advanced online training tool in the world today. It is currently marketed in over 100 countries around the world and is advertised in Inside Kung Fu Magazine, Budo International, and many other leading martial arts publications. In a very short time Grandmaster Leuschner and his crew at I Do Martial Arts have taken a vision and turned it into what could be the next evolution in martial arts training. Currently there are many of the top martial artists, athletes, and celebrities on the site such as, Bill “Superfoot” Wallace, Michael Jai White, Gary Lam, Chloe Bruce, and others representing very diverse selections of arts, fighting methods, conditioning, and self-defense techniques. In addition there are social networks available, dojo locators, current news events, virtually a never-before achievable focal point for all of your martial arts and fitness needs. When first invited, I have to admit that I was somewhat surprised, but also extremely honored to be asked by Grandmaster Leuschner to be a part of such an extraordinary peer group. To say the least it was an amazing experience that I will not forget!
On Saturday morning, after a 12 hour drive from Evansville, Indiana, to Kitchener, Ontario we began filming. Immediately I developed a tremendous appreciation for what it takes to produce something like I Do Martial Arts. We filmed for seven continuous hours on Saturday and another nine hours on Sunday with only a short time for lunch. Even though this was probably one of the most mentally and physically draining experiences I have ever had, it was one of the most rewarding experiences as well. Grandmaster Leuschner and his crew were amazing! The ChunJiDo system was filmed in Hi-Definition with multiple cameras, 8,000 watts of lighting, close-ups from several angles, and with the highest level of professionalism.
This experience as I mentioned earlier was truly an opportunity of a lifetime. For me it was not only inspiring to be included in such an amazing group of fellow martial artists, but it was also the opportunity to document techniques from a system that I spent many hours in the dojo, years of commitment, and over 30 years of dedicated training to develop, on a world stage! The respect and hospitality shown by Grandmaster Leuschner and his Family will not soon be forgotten. It is so rewarding to have over 30 years of dedication to a greater cause recognized and recorded in such a wonderful way!
