FREE SELF DEFENSE SEMINAR FOR Persons with Severe Vision Loss
On July 23, from 9:30 AM to 12 PM, Dr. Steve Tran, Chief Instructor at Universal Energy Martial Arts, and Mario Schapp, the California State Director of ChunJido International, will be offering to members of the Blind and low vision Community in Sacramento an opportunity to participate at an event par excellence that aims to introduce Self Defense and Self-Healing concepts to people that are in many ways vulnerable to being victims of assault and domestic violence.
Mr. Schapp, the Chief Instructor at Blind Community Martial Arts San Diego, wants to enable persons with visual impairments living in the Sacramento area to learn how to take a stance when faced with conflict and adult bullying. His methods have proven to work, having taught Martial Arts to students with vision impairments and other disabilities in San Diego for over 6 years.
Dr. Steve Tran, an expert in Energy Healing and Grandmaster of Martial Arts is a firm believer that everyone can find the path to Self Healing through centering the life force and one’s mental focus. In the seminar that will take place at the Universal Energy Martial Arts Academy Sacramento Participants will learn practical routines to exercise Self Healing and improve mental focus. They will be introduced to self-defense drills specially designed for people that are blind or visually impaired.
As Jeff Thom, immediate past president of the California Council of the Blind, puts it, “we believe that this event can mark the beginning of efforts to provide Sacramentans with vision loss the skills they need to best handle potentially violent situations.”
Both Instructors are affiliates of the Global Martial Arts Organization “Chunjido International”.
